Considering the Keto Diet?
But do you really know how it works?
The ketogenic diet is well-known for being a low-carb diet in which the liver produces ketones for energy.
When you consume a high-carbohydrate meal, your body will produce glucose and insulin.
Since glucose is being used as the primary source of energy, fats are no longer required and are therefore stored. On a normal, high-carbohydrate diet, glucose is the primary source of energy for the body. By consuming fewer carbohydrates, the body enters a metabolic state known as ketosis.
Ketosis is a natural process that the body initiates when food intake is inadequate to ensure survival. During this state, the breakdown of fats in the liver results in the production of ketones.
When your body is overloaded with fats and deprived of carbohydrates, it begins to use ketones as its primary source of energy.
